Make It Count: Content That Converts
This is not the first time you've heard the content speech, but if your stuff isn't bringing you paid customers, chances are that you're doing it wrong.
I did it wrong for years!
I was on every single platform trying to post something every few days, but all that did was leave me utterly exhausted with nothing to show for it.
I was listening to those "people" who said you had to be everywhere and engaged every day in order to be seen, but I couldn't manage. I didn't have time to post every day and frankly, I just didn't have that much to say!
My content was plentiful, but pointless and a complete waste of my time.
I don't want that to happen you. I want you to create content that converts!
Here are 5 things you can start doing now to make your content count.
1. SELECT PLATFORMS YOU VIBE WITH THE MOST
I am not a Twitter person. I used to have an account but I could not make it work for me. No matter how much I had read about it and researched different strategies for using it, Twitter just wasn't my thing.
When you're trying to fit something into your business that isn't authentic for you, you'll have a hard time being consistent and struggle with motivation to utilize it.
So no, you don't have to open a IG account for your business just because everyone else is. Maybe visual marketing isn't really your thing!
Pick platforms you most enjoy being on and engagement will come much easier.
2. PUMP YOUR CONTENT FULL OF VALUE
Have you ever read an article and thought, "Welp, I'll never get that 10 minutes back,"? This is a perfect example of content that makes people run for the hills when they see your logo.
Valuable content does one of three things: Informs, entertains, or inspires.
INFORM: How is this content useful? How will having this information change the way I conduct business?
ENTERTAINS: Was digesting this information enjoyable?
INSPIRES: Did this content motivate me to do something? Did it help me believe in my capabilities to be successful?
As an entrepreneur, you want to provide content that is worth your audience's time so make sure it adds value to their day.
3. IT EVOKES AN EMOTIONAL RESPONSE
Give your audience something they can feel!
Content shouldn't make your tribe feel like their trapped in a room with Ben Stein (the Clear Eyes guy) and bore them to tears.
It also shouldn't make them feel like their experiencing an infomercial that just won't quit (but wait there's more!)
You want your audience to feel excited, confident, and empowered. That's why step number 2 works so well because each of the things that add value causes the viewer to feel something.
Before you write your next piece, ask yourself how you want your audience to walk away feeling as a result from interacting with your content.
4. IT IS APPLICABLE
If your content isn't useful, then why in the world would anyone want to engage with your brand? Um, yeah they wouldn't.
Go over your content and determine if it can be applied to achieve some sort of result. If your audience can't apply what you provide, it's no different than reading a textbook or dictionary. Information without implementation helps no one!
5. IT LEADS YOUR AUDIENCE TO YOUR OFFERING
Content that converts leads your audience to make a purchase from you.
Your content is a way for you to demonstrate your expertise and show that you are a credible resource. Once you establish this, people are going to want to know the next step!
If you're not telling people how they can work with you after providing valuable content that is actionable, you're leaving money on the table.
Give a call to action that invites your audience to engage with you personally, sends them to sign up for one of your lead magnets, or leads them to a resource that confirms in their mind that you are the best professional to help them meet their goals.
